A look inside my classroom...

Students spend a large part of their day at school. Therefore, my classroom needs to be an inviting, supportive and safe environment. Included below are photos of my classroom.

Student desks...

The students' desks are arranged in small groups of 3 or 4 to allow for peer collaboration. The group setting also works well for science activities.

Computers...

There are four computers stationed near the back of the classroom. They are used for a variety of tasks including Study Island practice, science explorations and research.

Information Station...

Picture
Our information station houses our classroom calendar where important events and dates are highlighted. Lunch count and classroom jobs are also located here. Classroom jobs rotate every week as we all work as a team to keep our classroom running smoothly.

Decorations...

In celebration of Dr. Seuss, select students worked during recess to decorate our classroom door. They chose a spin off of Dr. Seuss's There's A Wocket In My Pocket, and created wockets that were tucked in my pockets! Our door reads, "There are 6th grade wockets in Miss Gray's pockets!"

Classroom Library...

Picture
Reading is a must in my classroom. Reading is such an important skill to have and use. My classroom library is organized by genre, and popular authors.

Science Corner...

Picture
This area is where our science supplies are organized. There are all kinds of materials here including rocks and minerals, simple circuits, microscopes, books, videos and art supplies.

Classroom Contract...

Picture
We have developed a classroom contract that we all agree to follow, including myself. This contract highlights certain rules and standards we follow throughout the school year. This contract is posted on the door, as a constant reminder of what great qualities we stand by.

Classroom Morale...

By taking an active interest in my students' lives, I have developed positive relationships with my students. We work well as a team. My students know how to stay motivated and challenge each other through the learning process. Yet, we also know how to share a smile along the way.
