Reading: Book Clubs...
This fall, the sixth grade students organized book clubs for reading. We had a variety of groups including: Haunted Houses, Ghosts, Halloween, Dracula and The Phantom of the Opera. Students spent time reading their book, discussing different elements, and sharing their experience with other groups.
As a final project, I asked that each group find a way to present their book in a unique way. Their creativity never fails to amaze me, as they came up with really clever ways to share their book. Some created report cards and rated their book on certain categories, others drew a mural of their favorite part of the book, and one group created hand puppets in order to re-enact a scene from The Phantom of the Opera.
